Firefly Aerospace Releases “Alpha Payload User’s Guide”

Firefly Aerospace, Inc., developers of launch vehicles for the small to medium satellite market, announced today the release of the Payload User’s Guide for its Alpha vehicle. The Firefly Alpha combines the highest payload performance with the lowest cost per kilogram to orbit in its vehicle class. Capable of delivering 1 metric ton to Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and 600 kg to the highly desirable 500 KM Sun-Synchronous Orbit (SSO), Alpha will provide launch options for both full vehicle and ride share customers.

The Payload User’s Guide provides Firefly’s customers with in-depth information on the operation, capabilities and payload interfaces for the Alpha launch vehicle. The Payload User’s Guide helps customers effectively and efficiently plan their missions.

“Our primary focus at Firefly is creating the world’s most economical and convenient small satellite launch vehicle,” said Firefly CEO Dr. Tom Markusic. “The Alpha vehicle will enable access to space for our customers across a wide variety of payload classes, from CubeSats to multi-satellite per mission constellation deployment.”

Dr. Markusic added that, “Our first launch is scheduled for the third quarter of 2019. Our mass production processes will ensure that we are able to support twice monthly launches by 2021. Economical, convenient and reliable access to space is crucial to rapidly expanding the small satellite market. The Firefly Alpha is a critical first step towards our goal of ‘Making Space for Everyone.’”
