With stability in its core programs, Firefly turns attention to future expansion to fuel 5-year growth plan

Cedar Park, Texas, June 26, 2024Firefly Aerospace, Inc., an end-to-end space transportation company, is announcing its new phase of business growth called “Firefly Next”, which includes a series of initiatives, partnerships, and plans for expansion – the first of which was announced earlier this week with Firefly bringing its Alpha rocket’s responsive launch capability to Wallops Island with the Virginia Spaceport Authority partnership.

“The last 24 months of Firefly’s journey has been marked by intense focus – focus on getting Alpha flying regularly, bringing the Medium Launch Vehicle program to life, putting Blue Ghost in a position to land on the Moon, and realizing Elytra as an extremely flexible space utility vehicle,” said Bill Weber, CEO of Firefly Aerospace. “While we will never let up on the focus we have achieved as a team, our success to date has allowed us to continue our journey, turning our attention to the actions that will fuel our growth over the next 5 years, which is why we are announcing Firefly Next.”

Firefly is uniquely positioned in the industry with its diverse product line of launch vehicles, lunar landers, on-orbit services, and rapid response capabilities. This portfolio has attracted more customers, increased backlog, and fueled the need to expand Firefly’s footprint and technology roadmap.

“Over the coming weeks, you will hear us announce a series of strategic moves that further unlock the passion that exists at Firefly – around where we will operate, where we are expanding our technologies and capabilities, and how we are increasingly focused on our responsibility as a market leader in defining how we operate in space as an industry,” said Weber.  “These moves collectively are what we call Firefly Next.”

Firefly Next initiatives support the company’s current contracts with government and commercial customers as well as future opportunities across all its product lines. This demand is expected to increase as Firefly further sets itself apart in the industry by rapidly launching payloads to orbit, landing on the Moon, and conducting on-orbit responsive satellite services – all this year. This will allow Firefly to become the only private new space company to offer this combination of flight-proven capabilities.

“Firefly is at a place where public-private partnerships, like the agreement at Wallops we just announced, are a reality of how we will grow and expand,” said Weber. “We could not have imagined that two years ago, but the hard work of the Fireflies and the commitment from our customers and investors have brought us to this point in time. We couldn’t be more excited about the future – stay tuned for more about Firefly Next.”
